Early days

Winter storms in Greenport can be severe and there are a lot of old trashed docks around. I kept my boat very near here and made some really wonderful friends in the area. It's about one hundred miles from NY City and it offers a welcome contrast. The sailing is absolutely excellent, the restaurants are well worth hanging out in and the local characters are worth their weight in gold.
After one of the frequent winter storms an old legend was repairing the dock outside a friends store. One of the employees from the store wandered up to the pile driver and pointed out that the dock was not quite level. The old fella stopped the pile driver and stared at the employee for a moment. Forgetting that he had stopped the pile-driver he then yelled out, " I ain't buildin' no piana', and went back to the pile driving.
